Parents are the most important partner in a child's education. There are many things that you can do to help improve your child's learning experience in school. Here are some of the steps that you can take:
- Get to know your child's teacher
All of our teachers have an email address, and many of them have a website with information on goings-on in the classroom. Visit our Teacher Pages to find your child's teacher.
- Organize a homework center
Plan a place in your home where your child can do his or her homework in a comfortable and productive learning environment, free of distractions.
- Reading Time
Encourage your child to set aside at least 30 minutes a day for reading, and be sure to have it recorded in their reading log! Our school library provides a list of recommended books that also qualify for the Battle of the Books, check out this reading list.
- Attend School Events
A number of events are scheduled throughout the year to allow your child to show off his or her accomplishments in school. The school calendar allows you to plan for upcoming events.
- Join the PTA
Our PTA works hard to provide our school with every kind of assistance to make teacher and students lives easier. Many of the school events and programs at MBES are provided by the PTA. It only costs $5 to join, and your membership will go a long way toward the success of our school! (en español)
- Volunteer!
More volunteers are always needed! Even if you don't have a lot of time to spend, there are many projects that can be done at home or seasonally. Remember that any little thing you can do to help contributes to the success of your child's education!
