Principal's Corner
McMullen-Booth Families –
We are making progress with our drop off and pick up processes. Thank you
to those who are making sure that their children are dropped off after 8:05 AM
and are picking up their children within 15 minutes of dismissal time. Our car
circles are moving quickly and efficiently at this point, and it is great when we
can finish dismissal duties and know that all students are safely in the care of
their parents within minutes of dismissal!
I need your help in one area of our campus. The drive in front of our office is not a student drop off area at any time. This
area should be used only by those parents who park in a legal parking space and walk with their children onto our campus.
Traffic in the morning across our campus is much too heavy and rushed to think about letting a child out to navigate traffic
across the parking lot. Of equal concern is letting the children out on the sidewalk where there is no supervision. We have
two car circles with adult supervision and patrols that are happy to greet your child and make sure they arrive safely in the ir
classroom or arrival area. Please follow our arrival and dismissal rules and courtesies. These have been developed with
safety and smooth processes in mind. I thank you for your help in keeping all our kids safe.
We had our first MBES SAC meeting on September 13th
Thank you to our community members and staff who have committed to serve on this important school improvement council. We took a first look at our School Improvement Plan
process and discussed improvement efforts and planning. Once our plan is uploaded (by September 30, 2011) to the state
school improvement site, anyone will be able to view it at http://flbsi.org. Just click on School Improvement Plan, then select
Pinellas as the district and then select McMullen-Booth Elementary. Choose the View School Improvement Plan (Read-Only)
link to view our SIP.
It is the time of year when the district asks us to look at all of our phenomenal instructors/staff and nominate those that w e
wish to have considered for the Pinellas Outstanding Educator or Support Staff of the Year. We know that each of our
employees is doing a fabulous job and each day makes a positive difference in the lives of the children on our campus.
However, if you have a particular teacher or support staff member at MBES that you would like to nominate for one of these
awards, please jot us a note, and we will be happy to give this positive feedback to them as well as include them in our
processes to look for our MBES representative.

In response to the state law, the Jeffrey Johnston Stand Up for all Students Act, the School Board adopted a policy that prohibits
bullying and harassment. The policy ensures that all students, employees, and volunteers learn and work in an environment that

students or employees and may involve but is not limited to: teasing, social exclusion, threat, intimidation, stalking, including
cyberstalking, physical violence, theft, sexual, religious, or racial harassment, public humiliation, and destruction of property.
The policy defines harassment as any threatening, insulting, or dehumanizing gesture, use of data or computer
software, or written, verbal or physical conduct directed against a student or employee that: Places a student or
employee in reasonable fear of harm to his or her person or damage to his or her property, has the effect of
substantially interfering with a student’s educational performance, opportunities, or benefits, has the effect of
substantially disrupting the orderly operation of a school. We are committed to providing a safe learning environment and will not tolerate Bullying/Harassment or Teen Dating Violence

Let Me Be A Child – Reminders for Loving Parents
Let me know when I make you proud. And help me to have pride in my own accomplishments.
Let me earn your trust. Then trust me. I won’t let you down.
Let me try my wings. If I fail, let me know it’s OK. And encourage me to try again.
Let me know you love me. With a hug. Or a pat on the back. Or, when I need it, with a firm but gentle “no”.
Let me be me. Let me change. Let me grow.
Let me tell you when I’m feeling bad. Or angry. Even at you. And let me know that even on my worst days,
you still like me.
Let me dream. Share my joy when my dreams come true. Share my tears when they don’t.
Let me feel secure in my home. Help me realize that love is always there…that I can depend on you
no matter what.
Let me run…let me laugh…let me play. And most of all, let me be a child.
