"To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and
youth" is the third Object of the PTA and this is what the legislation
committee follows as its primary guide. Wherever the decision making is
done, whether it is city or county government, school boards, or the
legislature - PTA needs to be there. Assistance is needed in keeping
parents informed about local, state and national issues that affect
education and our children, in which Florida PTA and National PTA
maintain certain positions. This committee works closely with our
Pinellas County Council PTA (PCCPTA) on legislative issues and takes
turns attending monthly PCCPTA meetings. (This committee person
reports to the VP of Leadership).
